Sailing Joa, is all about sailing. Our search for our next vessel led us to a vintage gem – the Edel Cat 33. This old project wasn’t just a choice; it was the answer to our sailing dreams.

We have always wanted for a sailboat that is sturdy, swift, and suited for any sea conditions. The old saying goes, “buy the boat for the kind of sailing that you will do.” This phrase stuck with us deeply. We wanted a boat that aligns with our vision of living aboard minimally and sailing effortlessly. The Edel Cat 33 ticked all these boxes.

Here’s why we chose the Edel Cat 33:

The Edel Cat 33 is a catamaran, known for its stability and speed over monohull boats. Its twin-hull design provides a steadier sailing experience, reducing the rocking motion we would feel in rough waters. Also, it’s faster, letting us glide smoothly over the waves.

With a length of 33 feet and a beam of nearly 20 feet, the Edel Cat 33 is compact yet spacious enough for us. It’s small enough to navigate through the Mediterranean, yet roomy for a comfortable live aboard experience.

We love the idea of living minimally. The Edel Cat 33 is simple in design and function. It doesn’t have overly complex systems, making it easier for us to maintain and repair. This simplicity is a step towards our minimalistic living goal.

Currently, we are in the process of fixing a few things on our Edel Cat 33. The way this boat is constructed makes repairs manageable. Its design allows for parts to be taken apart and fixed individually. This is a big plus for us, as we believe we can handle any problems that may arise.

We haven’t sailed it yet, but the anticipation is thrilling. We are looking forward to feeling its speed and stability on the water. Fixing it up is a journey of its own, bringing us closer to the day we set sail.
